What Are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are a way of replacing a missing tooth that mimics the natural anatomy of a tooth. A dental implant that replaces a tooth consists of two parts:

1. The Implant, which is a cylinder made of biocompatible titanium that is placed surgically in your jawbone below the gums, that heals and fuses to the bone over a few months.

2. The Connector and Porcelain Crown anchors to the implant. Once completed, the dental implant fits perfectly with your other teeth, is very strong, and functions like a natural tooth, thereby restoring your teeth and smile back to its beauty, health, and function. Our cosmetic dentists provide natural looking crowns that match the color, shape, and translucency of your natural teeth.

Who are Dental Implants for?

Many people put off treatment too long and are unsure if there is any hope – we’re here to tell you that there is! Even if you have multiple missing teeth or badly damaged teeth, modern dentistry has incredible ways to help you. We have transformed the health and aesthetics of hundreds and hundreds of people who believed there was no hope for their teeth. Prosthodontics may be the ideal solution for you if you want to correct some of the following issues:

  • Missing Teeth
  • Advanced Periodontal Disease
  • Loose Teeth
  • Broken or Cracked Teeth
  • Collapsed Facial Appearance
  • Dentures That Don’t Fit
  • Removable Dental Work
  • Bite Problems
  • Difficulty Chewing
  • Deteriorating Dental Work
  • Bite Problems
  • TMJ Problems

If you have missing teeth, you should consider this procedure. Dental Implants are an ideal solution if you are missing a tooth because it not only restores your smile and appearance, it restores the function of your teeth, making them whole. Multiple missing teeth can leave you looking older than your years because of the facial collapse and reduced facial height that can come along with it. Modern dental technology such as dental implants can restore the beauty and function to your smile.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental Implants are beneficial for your overall oral health if you are missing teeth. When a missing tooth is replaced with a dental implant it prevents other teeth from drifting into the space, which can cause bite problems, misalignment, and a higher chance of losing more teeth. Even one missing tooth, such as a back molar, can cause this cascade of problems. The benefits of dental implants include:

  • Appears and functions like natural teeth
  • Supports the teeth and stabilizes the bite
  • Allows you to eat what you want
  • Allows for worry free chewing
  • Enhances your appearance, smile, and confidence
  • A solution that can last for decades or a lifetime

What are the steps in Dental Implants?

Creating beautiful implants that can last a lifetime takes planning, expertise, and a team of experienced professionals. The team at Signature Dentistry of Denver, has been successfully replacing missing teeth with dental implants for over twenty years. While the process takes a few months to complete, the end result and benefits make it well worth it. The process of having a dental implant done has two distinct steps:

Step 1

Step 2

Surgical – This step consists of planning your customized dental implant solution to fit your unique situation. Restoration – After a few months, once your dental implant has fused to the jawbone, you will return to have an impression taken of the implant. This will be used by the dental laboratory technician to create a precise connector and crown for the implant, matching your natural teeth’s color, shape, size, and bite. When you return to our office a few weeks later we anchor the final prosthesis to the implants and complete restoration of the natural teeth. Our doctors take time at this appointment to get the fine details of your bite and smile feeling and looking great. Implants, if maintained properly, can last for decades or even a lifetime.
